SRGC OPEN 2015

Hi Folks

Well I am glad to say that this years Open was a great success dispite the weather earlier in the week trying to upset it all for us!

69 Golfers took part from 4 different clubs and the weather decided to be kind with a very nice day for the competition. The course was in remarkable good shape all things considered, this was all down to our Greens staff who have worked hard to keep things on track after a very dismal summer and poor growing conditions.

Play started at 7am and as the first groups started arriving back two remarkable scores were posted. Both were 56 nett, posted by Graeme Miller and Derek Nicolson, and as the day progressed it became clear that these were not going to be challenged. But dispite this a good days golf was had by all who took part.

It went to the wire with the final group to decide the Gross prize with Andy Bonner and Graham Flett both in contention. A slip by Andy allowed Graham to pull ahead and ultimately win.

As usual our course claimed a few victims and the ditches consumed a few balls just proving that the Hope course is a force to be recconed with. If it likes you then you are in with a good score BUT if it decides to bear a grudge the look out!!

So without further ado I will thank all who helped to make this event the success it was. Those who gave up spare time and worked longer hours to get it ready. Those who donated raffles and who prepared food and snacks and those who helped serve them.

But most of all thank you to all who supported us and attended the event without you our Open would be closed.

Thank you and hope to see you all next year.
